Multiple people have been shot at Howe Community Park in Sacramento, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office has shared on Facebook.

“Deputies are on scene at Howe Park in Sacramento investigating a shooting involving multiple victims. At this time, there is no confirmed update on the condition of those involved. There is no suspect information available at this time,” the post reads.

This is an active investigation. Anyone with information on the incident has been urged to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office at (916) 874-5115.

The incident took place near the Home Depot parking lot, according to Scanner Radio.

Witnesses speak out

Facebook users and some witnesses flocked to the comment section of the post. “Why were there so many people there? Home Depots parking lot was completely full. Was there some sort of event at the park leading up to this? We passed by and a helicopter was already circling around 6:45pm,” one user wrote. “I heard a few shots rang out last night when I was sitting outside my porch smokin,” another said.

“I am listening to the whole thing on the scanner.. no suspects info yet,” wrote a user, while another said, “That’s crazy. I was just up there with my kids too around one or 2 o’clock.”Heard gunshots and seen a lot of people running down our street to get to their vehicles. hope everyone is safe!” said a user.

“Oh no! Prayers for the victims,” wrote a user, while another said, “my.son was there playing basketball, I picked him n his friend up at 6 to take the home…I had never seen so many people before..it was wild”. “Omgg prayers to the victims and their families. Sh** getting crazier by the second,” wrote a user.

According to CBS News, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District also responded to the scene. At least four people were taken to area hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to moderate, the outlet said.
