With the help of a four-run fourth inning, varsity softball defeated South San Francisco High School 9-1 on March 13.
After the four-run fourth, the score was 6-0 and South San Francisco wouldn’t score its first run until the seventh inning.
Head coach Michelle Teofan said the team had to adjust because it was the first time playing South San Francisco.
“The pitcher was a little slower than we were used to,” Teofan said. “It took us three innings to get back and figure it out, but once we figured it out, like this team almost always does, we (ran) hard.”

Sophomore pitcher and first baseman Eleanor Wells practice translated into in-game success.
“It was about hitting line drives,” Wells said. “In the second half of the game, we really managed to do that.”
Freshman pitcher Samantha Prabhu said practice leading up to the game focused on fielding bunts.
“Last game we really struggled with that,” Prabhu said. “ So in this game, we did a really good job.”
Wells said the team also brought great energy to the game.
“We are really good at hyping each other up, and if somebody (makes) a bad play, we just tell them to shake it off,” Wells said.
And Prabhu said this environment contributes to the team’s success.
“We are all super supportive of each other,” Prabhu said. “We love being around each other.”
With this win, the team improved to 4-1, but Teofan said they are not aiming for perfection.
“Our goal this year is not necessarily to be number one,” Teofan said. “Our goal is to make it to CCS.”
