Re “Experts predict it’s going to be a ‘sharky’ summer” (April 12): I was amused to see the director of the Shark Lab at Cal State Long Beach say that a surfer could be decapitated by the “cheese grater” fishing line from someone fishing who hooks a shark. Is this what the Shark Lab’s $3.75 million state grant was used for — to come up with stories like this? One would hope for a more scientific foundation for studies, and not wild speculation about bloody deaths from folks fishing. Thanks for the laugh!
