The Kimpton Sawyer Hotel is pleased to announce the appointment of Emily Nichols as General Manager of the refined property located in Sacramento’s vibrant Downtown Commons. Overseeing the hotel’s daily operations, Nichols’ extensive hospitality background prepares her to guide the hotel with innovative strategy, thoughtful leadership and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
Before heading west, Nichols spent over 15 years honing her hospitality expertise in Chicago, Minneapolis and New York – three cities that shaped her dynamic approach to guest experience and team culture. Her career then brought her to the Kimpton Alton Hotel in San Francisco’s iconic Fisherman’s Wharf, where she led the team for four years and fostered Kimpton’s unique style of genuine, heartfelt hospitality. Her time in the Bay Area also included leadership roles at The Kimpton Buchanan and the historic Sir Francis Drake Hotel. A proud Chicago native, Nichols is a passionate traveler with a desire to curate one-of-a-kind stays that inspire connection and a sense of place.
The Kimpton Sawyer delivers a modern and tranquil experience with 250 spacious guest rooms and suites that feature décor inspired by the hues of California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. Revival at the Sawyer, the hotel’s signature rooftop venue, provides an elevated experience with flavorful bites, curated beverages and sweeping views.
This news follows the departure of former general manager Nikki Glass, who played an instrumental role in the success of Kimpton Sawyer since its 2017 opening. Recently recognized by Sacramento Business Journal as one of Sacramento’s “40 under 40,” Glass now serves as IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Regional Vice President of Luxury & Lifestyle Americas Operations – West.
