OAKLAND, CA — A Bay Area smoke shop was caught selling mushrooms and marijuana illegally after community members reported it to the police, authorities said.
Officers with the Oakland Police Department’s Alcohol Beverage Action Team went to the smoke shop in the 1400 block of Webster Street on Thursday, Oct. 16, and discovered the shop was selling mushrooms, cannabis products, flavored tobacco products and a large quantity of tobacco from out of state that had not been taxed, authorities said.
Authorities also seized two guns from the shop and $4,800, according to the Oakland Police Department.
The shop did not have the proper licenses to sell marijuana or tobacco products, police said.
Nobody was arrested, but the officers referred the case to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, police said. The district attorney’s office will weigh whether there is enough evidence to file civil charges and potentially evict the business, authorities said.
