SAINT ALBANS, W.V. (WKRC) – After a young child was found wandering around on the street wearing only a diaper, the child’s father told police, “This isn’t my deal, I don’t watch kids.”
According to a press release from the Saint Albans Police Department, officers received a report of a “small child walking alone while only wearing a diaper” on a street.
A concerned citizen discovered the child and helped them return home, but there was no answer upon knocking on the door, per the release. The citizen reportedly let the child return inside and subsequently called 911.
Officers arrived at the child’s home and attempted to make contact with an adult at the home but did not receive an answer, according to the release. Police were eventually able to make entry into the residence when the child opened the door.
Police searched the home and reportedly found the child’s father, 42-year-old Mark Blake Jr., sleeping upstairs.
“This isn’t my deal,” Blake allegedly told police. “I don’t watch kids.”

Blake was arrested and charged with child neglect. Police said that at the time of his arrest, Blake was already on bond for a “similar incident” that occurred in August 2025.
