Uber Technologies Inc. was hit with a lawsuit Monday alleging it is flouting a controversial California gig-worker law by failing to provide drivers with a process to appeal their account deactivations.
The ride-share giant’s violation of Prop. 22 means the company should no longer be allowed to classify its drivers as independent contracts, as the law allows. The complaint asked that Uber instead be forced to treat drivers as employees.
