A person suspected of theft was arrested after a vehicle chase on Sacramento-area streets on Monday, the sheriff’s office said.The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said the person was wanted by Elk Grove police for grand theft. The sheriff’s office’s K-9 unit located the suspect near Stockton Boulevard and Fruitridge Road around 6 p.m. and initiated a pursuit. The vehicle eventually drove against the flow of traffic so the sheriff’s office ended the chase. A KCRA 3 viewer shared video of the suspected vehicle driving the wrong way on the Garden Highway on-ramp to Interstate 5. But the sheriff’s office said it continued to track the driver with its helicopter. A K-9 bit and apprehended the suspect after its vehicle stopped near Garden Highway and I-5, the sheriff’s office said. Elk Grove police will be the primary agency in charge of the case.
