Two people were rescued from a cliff at the Torrey Pines Gliderport in La Jolla after getting stuck above Black’s Beach, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Lifeguards, firefighters and a rescue helicopter responded shortly after 2:30 p.m. April 19 to the gliderport at the end of Torrey Pines Scenic Drive near North Torrey Pines Road, authorities said.

One of the people was lifted off the cliff by helicopter, while the other was taken to safety via a rope system. Their conditions were not released, though both were taken to a hospital. The rescue operation took about an hour, according to the Fire-Rescue Department.
