Five men were arrested — Andres Perez Naranjo, 25, Andres Rojas, 25, Edwar Hernandez Marin, 40, Kevin Soriano Hernandez, 20, and 32-year-old Nicolas Medina Leon — by Elk Grove police on several charges, including burglary, attempted burglary, possession of stolen property and conspiracy.

Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person on Fossil Way around 3:30 p.m. April 15, the Elk Grove Police Department said in a social media post, in what turned out to be a coordinated burglary attempt.

One suspect posed as a food-delivery driver while a co-conspirator attempted to gain entry into the Fossil Way home through a side door. The suspects fled when they found that someone was home.

Police identified the vehicle using an automated license plate reader, and a drone team tracked the vehicle going westbound on Hood Franklin in south Sacramento County. Police saw the suspects pull over and transfer property between vehicles and detained the five suspects not long after.

Elk Grove police said they had also received a separate residential burglary report from on Luttic Court earlier in the day.

More than $80,000 in property stolen from the Luttic Court home was recovered and returned to the victims. No property was stolen from the Fossil Way home.

“This case highlights how technology, teamwork, and rapid response work together to protect our community and deliver results,” Elk Grove police said.

Anyone with information about this investigation or the suspects is encouraged to contact the department’s Investigations Bureau at (916) 478-8060.
