The Edmonton Oilers are off to a good start in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Edmonton knocked off the Anaheim Ducks on Monday, in Game 1 of their playoff series. Oilers goalie Connor Ingram spoke afterward about picking up his first career playoff win at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

“It was awesome. I mean the bulk of my career I played out of Mullett Arena, so to walk out that tunnel today, it’s a different animal,” Ingram said, per The Athletic.

Edmonton picked up a 4-3 win Monday, with Leon Draisaitl back on the ice for the Oilers. It was an emotional moment for Draisaitl, who had missed a large chunk of the regular season due to injury.

“I felt OK. It’s certainly going to take a couple of games to really be myself and really trust myself again, but for a start, I thought it was OK,” Draisaitl said, per NHL.com. “(The Ducks are) skilled. We knew that. They can score, they’re good off the rush, they can all skate. It’s a good hockey team. Not much else to say. Two good teams going at it. We’ll take it from there.”

Ingram made 25 saves in net for Edmonton. The Oilers are striving to reach their third consecutive Stanley Cup Final. Edmonton lost in the final the last two seasons, both to the Florida Panthers.

Ingram is now the third goaltender to earn a win in his first postseason appearance with Edmonton, NHL.com reported. Andy Moog and Jack Campbell are the other two.

Edmonton and Anaheim play Game 2 of the best-of-seven first-round series on Wednesday night.
