Scattered showers are still moving across the Bay Area Wednesday morning, the back end of a cold, unstable system that delivered downpours, small hail and severe weather on Tuesday. Rain chances drop sharply by late afternoon, and most neighborhoods should be dry by the evening commute.

Wednesday’s showers are not expected to feature thunder or lightning. The bulk of the rain should clear San Francisco, the Peninsula and East Bay by 8 a.m.

Isolated showers are still possible for the rest of the morning, but that risk continues to diminish as the day progresses. A drying trend will pick up momentum and skies should become mostly sunny by the afternoon.

Highs Wednesday stay on the cool side, running about 5 to 10 degrees below normal for late April.

The North Bay dries out first and should see sunshine by the late morning with highs in the upper 60s in Santa Rosa and the mid-60s in San Rafael and Napa. San Francisco, Oakland and the East Bay will see temperatures in the mid-60s. San Jose and the Santa Clara valley should top out in the upper 60s.

Clearing continues overnight, with lows in the upper 40s to low 50s. Thursday and Friday look dry and warmer with temperatures in the 60s and 70s.
