A new fleet of sidewalk delivery robots is now operating in the downtown San Jose area.

Coco Robotics, a Southern California-based company, said it has launched about 20 self-driving robots to deliver food and groceries in the area.

The company describes itself as operating one of the nation’s largest fleets of autonomous delivery vehicles.

San Jose is Coco Robotics’ first location in the Bay Area. The company already operates in several major cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami.

Officials said the robots are designed to travel along sidewalks and complete short-distance deliveries for local customers.
