(FOX40.COM) — An elderly man is in critical condition after crashing into a utility pole on Tuesday evening, according to the Sacramento Fire Department.

Around 4:30 p.m., emergency officials responded to a crash near Fruitridge Road and 56th Street. When crews arrived at the scene, they found an unresponsive man in his 70s. According to SFD, bystanders performed CPR until help arrived.

The patient was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. No power outages were reported. However, SMUD workers also responded to the scene.
