BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — Drivers in downtown Bakersfield should plan for a temporary road closure on Thursday, April 23, as the annual Victims’ Rights March is expected to bring traffic impacts during the evening commute.

Truxtun Avenue, between Chester Avenue and N Street, will be closed in both directions from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Some setup for the event may begin as early as 11 a.m.
The closure comes as multiple other events are scheduled nearby around the same time, including the Bakersfield Women’s Business Conference at the Dignity Health Theater & Convention Center and the Bakersfield Condors’ Calder Cup playoff game at Dignity Health Arena.

For those going to the Condors’ game, anyone coming from the west and traveling eastbound on Truxtun will need to use southbound Chester Avenue to California Avenue or northbound Chester Avenue to 17th Street to get to the arena.
