A boy was struck and killed by a car in San Jose parking lot, police said Wednesday.

On Tuesday just before 4:30 p.m., officers arrived in the 2100 block of Canoas Garden after receiving a report of a pedestrian being struck by a car.

According to police, a Toyota minivan being driven by a man was going northbound in the driveway of an apartment complex when his vehicle struck a young juvenile boy who was walking in the parking area. The boy was taken to the hospital, where he died.

The driver remained at the scene and has cooperated with police, who do not believe that alcohol or drugs contributed to the collision.
