Oh Wonder is more than a band. It’s a family affair.

The British alternative pop husband-and-wife duo of Anthony Vander West and Josephine Vander West formed in 2014 after Anthony met Josephine at one of her solo concerts. Together, they gained attention by releasing one song per month ahead of their self-titled debut, which arrived in full in 2015. The approach brought quick success, earning Oh Wonder praise for a downtempo synth-pop sound and songs that explore heartbreak, human connection and intimacy.

In addition to their musical endeavors, the couple also owns several recording studios and a coffee shop, both in London. They opened the latter, Nola, during the COVID-19 pandemic to keep their touring crew employed. While Oh Wonder has resumed touring since then, Nola is still in operation.

Today, the act has a total of five studio albums, with “22 Make” their most recent, released in 2022.

Oh Wonder are scheduled to perform Sunday, April 29, at the Fox Theater in Oakland.
