FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A woman was arrested after a kidnapping attempt on Wednesday afternoon in Fresno.
The Fresno Police Department says they were called out to a home on Andrews Avenue, near Shields and West Avenues at 4:38 p.m. for reports of a woman trying to take a child.
When officers arrived, they found a woman identified as Tyiesha Davis, who witnesses say tried to kidnap an 8-year-old girl.
Investigations showed that Davis grabbed the little girl by her hair and tried to pull her into a vehicle.
The little girl fought back and was able to get away from Davis.
She said the woman told her she was stolen at birth and that she was her real mom.
She also said the woman knew her name.

The young girl then ran to a nearby home and pounded on the door until somebody answered.
The parents of the child showed up and confirmed that they did not know Davis, and she had no relation to them.
Davis was booked at the Fresno County Jail for kidnapping, false imprisonment and endangering a child.
