A man has been charged with allegedly vandalizing an Oakland County synagogue on Sunday.
David Justin Gorevitz, a 51-year-old homeless man, was charged with a hate crime. He’s accused of drawing antisemitic slurs and swastikas on Congregation Beth Shalom on April 19.

The vandalism comes days after two 19-year-olds were arrested in Sterling Heights for spray-painting antisemitic messages in the area.
Rabbi Robert Gamer said the vandalism has prompted the congregation to consider additional security measures, including more cameras.
Gorevitz‘s charge, hate crime – malicious destruction of personal property, is punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
