A 19-year-old Sacramento resident is set to be arraigned Friday afternoon in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Stockton man in March.

Humberto Palacios was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on Wednesday, April 22 on suspicion of killing 21-year-old Dustin DeWitt.

Palacios is set to appear for his first court appearance at 3 p.m. Friday, April 24 at a Sacramento courthouse.

DeWitt, a Stockton resident, was stabbed and killed on March 2, in the 400 block of K Street, near Downtown Commons (DOCO). A woman who was with DeWitt was also stabbed.

Sacramento police said officers responded just before 9:45 p.m. to the area on a report of a stabbing. At the scene, officers found DeWitt with at least one stab wound, police said. Emergency aid was performed on the man and woman before they were taken to a hospital.

DeWitt died from his injuries after being taken to the hospital, police said. The woman survived.

DeWitt was described by loved ones as a kind and caring person who always put others first.

Kimora Gray, who organized a GoFundMe, said “His passing has been devastating for his family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know him.”

Gray added, “His smile and laughter brought joy to everyone around him, and his absence is deeply felt by all who loved him.”
