BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — Bakersfield police arrested four suspects on Thursday, April 23, 2026, as part of a nationwide operation to fight human trafficking.

Officers and VICE personnel from BPD participated in “Operation Coast to Coast,” which included agencies from over 29 states.

The following were arrested:

Thomas Martinez, 42, for solicitation of prostitution and loitering with the intent to purchase commercial sex.Jorge Jimenez Villalobos, 20, for loitering with the intent to purchase commercial sex.Paul Daniel Escobosa, 37, for loitering with the intent to purchase commercial sex.Jaelen Byrd, 30, for an outstanding felony arrest warrant.Comment with Bubbles

BPD said “Operation Coast to Coast” began in 2024 as an initiative of the Human Trafficking Training Center and other organizations to bring awareness to and spur a nationwide response to human trafficking.

Officials stated that services and resources are provided to victims, potential traffickers are arrested, and the demand for sex workers decreases when those who solicit prostitutes are apprehended.
