San Jose Sharks’ top defense prospect Eric Pohlkamp could make his professional hockey debut with the San Jose Barracuda on Friday.

Per Sheng Peng of SJHN, the defenseman joined the team in Henderson for the pregame skate of game two of the Pacific Division first-round series.

Pohlkamp is available to make pro debut tonight, says McCarthy.

Based on morning skate, looked like he might pair with Allan.

Pohlkamp was rumored to join the Barracuda after signing his entry-level contract last Thursday.

GM Mike Grier told reporters during his exit interview that Pohlkamp’s health would be the deciding factor in his joining the San Jose Sharks farm team.

“He could. We’ll see. He’s a little banged up. I think you guys probably heard David Carle mentioned after the game. He’s a tough kid, competitive kid, but he’s had a couple of different injuries that have kind of limited him the last two games there that he fought through to try and win the championship,” Grier said. “We’ll get a look at him, see how he’s feeling, and if he’s feeling up to it and he’s healthy enough, there’s a chance he could join them next week.”

According to Peng, Pohlkamp skated with Nolan Allan on defense. The Barracuda are down 1-0 to the Henderson Silver Knights after dropping game one 5-4 in overtime.

During the Calder Cup Playoffs, the first round in the Pacific Division is a best-of-3, meaning the Barracuda will need to win on Friday to keep their season alive.

Last season, the San Jose Sharks AHL Team defeated the Ontario Reign in the first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs. Sharks goalie Yaroslav Askarov backstopped the San Jose Barracuda to a two-game sweep before the team ultimately fell in the second round to the Colorado Eagles.
