BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A Bakersfield gas station employee near The Marketplace was arrested, cited, and released after allegedly selling alcohol to a minor during a decoy operation.
Bakersfield Police Department VICE detectives, in partnership with California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), conducted a Minor Decoy operation in west Bakersfield on April 16, 2026.
A Minor Decoy operation focuses on businesses who sell alcohol to underage people. A minor under the age of 21 enters a licensed establishment, presents valid identification indicating they are underage, and tries to buy alcohol.
If the employee sells alcohol to the decoy, they can be arrested, and the business can be subject to administrative action, including loss of its ABC license.
During the operation, Bakersfield Police Department detectives responded to the Brookside Market, located at 8803 Camino Media.
A violation happened and one employee was arrested for furnishing alcoholic beverages to minors.
The employee was later released at the scene with a citation.
