In the project’s Segment A in West Los Angeles, crews will close up to one lane in each direction on Santa Monica Boulevard.
California Department of Transportation officials announced upcoming lane closures and parking restrictions along State Route 2 in West Los Angeles and Echo Park as part of a multimodal pavement improvement project.
The work, which includes curb, gutter and sidewalk upgrades, will primarily take place overnight from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday unless otherwise noted. Parking restrictions will be enforced the clock from April 26 through May 2 in affected areas.
In the project’s Segment A in West Los Angeles, crews will close up to one lane in each direction on Santa Monica Boulevard between Bundy Drive and Federal Avenue during overnight hours from April 26 through May 1. Parking will be prohibited along that stretch during the same period. Transit service will also be affected, with a temporary closure of a westbound bus stop at Bundy Drive; riders will be redirected to a nearby stop at Wellesley Avenue.
Additional work is scheduled from 9 p.m. May 2 to 11 a.m. May 3, when both directions of Santa Monica Boulevard near Wellesley Avenue will be reduced to one lane for bus pad replacement. Parking will not be allowed in that area during the closure.
In Segment C in the Echo Park area, lane reductions will affect Glendale Boulevard between Branden Street and Allesandro Street. Up to two lanes in each direction will be closed overnight, with one lane in each direction closed during daytime hours. Parking will be restricted along that corridor throughout the work period.
Caltrans said access to local businesses will be maintained during construction, though motorists should expect delays and are advised to plan alternate routes. Advance signage will be posted for all closures and restrictions.
The project, with an estimated cost of $70.2 million, spans multiple segments of SR-2 from Centinela Avenue in Santa Monica to its terminus in Echo Park. In addition to Segment A and Segment C, Segment B covers portions of Santa Monica Boulevard through Hollywood.
