FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — An investigation is underway after two people were killed in a car crash in Fresno County.

It happened just after 11 pm on Tuesday near the intersection of Belmont and Brawley, just outside Fresno.

Investigators say a witness saw a Toyota Camry traveling at a high speed east on Belmont before it blew through a stop sign at the intersection.

Officials say the car then made an unsafe right turn, sideswiped a power pole, crashing through trees, bushes and a fence before hitting a parked car at a truck yard.

The woman driving the car died at the scene.

A girl in the back seat was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where she later died.

They say she was not wearing a seatbelt.

A man in the front seat was taken to the hospital with major injuries.

It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
