Sophomore Chase Millikan at The Grauer School, an independent school in Encinitas, was ranked in first place in both the qualification round and the Elite individual elimination rounds at the 2026 USA Archery OAS (Olympic Archery in Schools) California State Championship, securing his position as the top USA Archery OAS high school archer in the state. In March, he ranked first in High School Overall for Boys in the 2026 OAS San Diego Conference Championship, according to a news release.

“This year, Chase proudly represented The Grauer School and excelled. He delivered an outstanding performance, earning first place twice,” said Trevor Olson, archery coach and athletic director at The Grauer School, in the news release. “We are so excited to see how far his talents take him at the national championship.”

The 2026 USA Archery OAS State Championship is a one-day competition featuring a 30-arrow qualification round, followed by both individual and team elimination rounds for Elite/Varsity divisions. The event took place at the Easton Archery Center of Excellence in Chula Vista.

Last year, Millikan placed Fourth Overall in the High School Varsity Boys Division at the Olympic Archery in Schools (OAS) National Championship. In 2024, Millikan placed Second Overall in the Middle School Varsity Boys Division at the OAS National Championship.

He started outdoor shooting at longer distances in 2023, hoping to shoot 70 meters and place well at high school OAS competitions. He joined The Grauer School archery program in seventh grade to spend more time with his friends. He also joined the Roadrunner Archery Club, Southern California’s premier archery club and nonprofit organization designed to develop archers, from beginners to experts, into world-class and nationally competitive athletes, the news release stated.

The Grauer School started its archery program in 2012. The program reached a new level of success in 2015 after joining the OAS, an established nationwide program with a competition structure where student archers can compete with other top-ranked archers.
