MCFARLAND, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Additional security measures were put in place for a Cinco de Mayo Festival in McFarland after a shooting Sunday afternoon, according to the McFarland Police Department.

The McFarland Police Department said officers first received reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Industrial St. around 12:06 p.m. on April 26.

Officers responded and found evidence confirming that a shooting had happened in the roadway.

Officers said no members of the public were injured. A vehicle parked along the street suffered damage believed to be related to the incident.

Officers developed investigative leads and are actively conducting follow-up efforts.

The Cinco de Mayo Festival took place at Blanco Park, with a parade scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

The McFarland Police Department said it would maintain a strong law enforcement presence throughout both the parade and festival.

Additional security measures were in place to support a safe and enjoyable environment for participants.
