Perhaps you have seen the recent TV spot highlighting the Coronado Cays homeowner who wishes to put the fuselage of a biz jet on the rooftop of the home he is constructing. Until that TV spot aired, many folks in Coronado thought it was a joke.
It is not a joke to the neighbors of those who live in the Cays Village, where this home has been under construction for almost 3 years.
The directors of the Coronado Cays Home Owners Association approved this rooftop carnival attraction based upon supposedly vague building plans. Objections by Cays neighboring residents have fallen on mostly deaf ears by a slim majority of CCHOA directors.
Apparently the various City of Coronado departments just rubber stamp any building plans authorized by the CCHOA. This can be a future serious liability. Weight of the many 2 story steel girders are heavier than most construction materials used to build homes on sea walls in the Cays. The City of Coronado as well as the CCHOA does limit how far down one might dig due to potential damage to these sea walls. Who knew both entities might have to limit what goes on top of homes.
Security issues, looky-loos, nuisance drones launched to record this unusual, absurd rooftop carnival attraction are not welcome intrusions in this quiet family community. Would you want it next door to you? This ostentatious loving Cays resident plans to put a helicopter on the rooftop of another home he is building in the Cays.
Cays residents may offer their objections in person at the Thursday, April 23rd Coronado Cays HOA meeting at 2:00 p.m.
