DUBLIN – The Mercy Brown Bag Program, a nonprofit organization that provides groceries to low-income seniors, will hold an information session at the Dublin Senior Center, 7600 Amador Valley Blvd., from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28.
Seniors 60 and older are being encouraged to attend the session to learn if they are eligible for the program, which is available countywide.
Residents of the Mercy Retirement and Care Center in Oakland started the Brown Bag program in 1982, encouraging local businesses to donate groceries for seniors facing food insecurity.
The program now reaches more than 10,000 people in 13 cities across Alameda County. Food is distributed at 82 sites twice a month.
