Major damage left behind after car slams into Sacramento County Walgreens, sheriff says
SCENE THERE. MIKE, WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED ABOUT THIS SO FAR? WELL, WORKERS INSIDE RIGHT NOW STILL CLEANING UP FROM WHAT HAPPENED HERE AT THIS FRONT DOOR. NOW TAKE A LOOK BECAUSE WE HAVE SOME VIDEO FROM ANOTHER ANGLE FROM WHEN WE FIRST GOT HERE, BEFORE THEY WERE ABLE TO KIND OF PUT THAT SECURITY DOOR BACK. AT LEAST PROP IT UP INTO PLACE. YOU CAN SEE INTO THE STORE BECAUSE IT WAS JUST AFTER 3 A.M. THAT BOTH THE SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT AND THE CHP SAYS A DRIVER APPARENTLY RAMMED THE FRONT DOOR. REPORTING PARTY CLAIMING TO SEE IT MULTIPLE TIMES, RAMMING INTO THAT FRONT DOOR OF THIS WALGREENS. THE SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT SAYS BY THE TIME THEY ARRIVED, THAT VEHICLE HAD ALREADY FLED THE SCENE. BUT THEY DID CHARACTERIZE THIS AS THE BELIEF THAT THIS WAS AN ATTEMPT TO BURGLARIZE THIS WALGREENS. AND REMEMBER, IT WAS JUST A WEEK AGO ON WEDNESDAY WHEN I WAS OVER IN THE SOUTH PART OF SACRAMENTO, WHERE A CAR HAD RAMMED INTO BOTH A TOGO’S, BASKIN-ROBBINS AND A NEARBY RESTAURANT WITHIN THE SAME HOUR. Cleanup is underway Tuesday morning at a Walgreens after a car slammed into the front of the store in an attempted burglary, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said.Deputies responded after 3 a.m. to the Walgreens on Antelope Road near Walerga Road, the sheriff’s office said. California Highway Patrol logs indicate that a reporting party claimed they saw the vehicle reverse into the store multiple times. The vehicle took off before deputies arrived.Emergency crews have left the scene. KCRA 3’s Mike TeSelle reports damage to the front door of the Walgreens.This is a developing story.
