A vegetation fire in Fallbrook briefly prompted an evacuation order not long before firefighters stopped forward progress on Tuesday afternoon.
The fire, dubbed the Live Oak Fire, broke out at the 2500 block of Live Oak Park Road around 4:30 p.m., burning about two acres before firefighters stopped forward progress at around 5 p.m., according to the North County Fire Protection District.
Those near the fire were initially told to evacuate but that order was soon after downgraded to a shelter-in-place order, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office. Those who evacuated from their homes can safely return, the sheriff’s office wrote on X at 5:09 p.m.
