Crews build Sacramento’s first 3D-printed house
IN SACRAMENTO. THEY HAVE OVER 50 SENIORS GRADUATING THIS YEAR. A NEW WAY OF BUILDING HOMES IS UNDERWAY IN SACRAMENTO, AS CREWS ARE PUTTING TOGETHER THE CITY’S FIRST 3D PRINTED HOUSE. THE CONSTRUCTION METHOD USES ROBOTS TO BUILD A HOUSE OUT OF CONCRETE. JUST LIKE THIS, THE FOUNDATION WALLS ARE GOING UP THIS WEEK. THIS IS IN THE AREA OF SKIPTON, COURT IN NORTH BOROUGH DRIVE. THE CREW SAYS THE CONSTRUCTION METHOD MAKES IT LESS COSTLY TO BUILD AND CAN ALSO BE A JOB CREATOR. IT’S NOT ACTUALLY TAKING AWAY JOBS, IT’S JUST BRINGING IN THIS NEW GENERATION OF MORE TECHY PEOPLE. WE GOT PEOPLE THAT NEED TO BE ABLE TO WORK ON FILES. YOU GOT TO BE ABLE TO DO ROBOTICS, YOU GOT TO DO MORE MAINTENANCE TYPE THINGS ON LARGER EQUIPMENT LIKE THAT.
