Mustard was pivotal toward the creation of Lamar’s viral hit “Not Like Us.”“We all grew up watching the X Games and trying to do the tricks as kids,” Mustard said in an X Games release. “Never thought I’d be able to see it live and actually be part of the show. Looking forward to being there.” Mustard is joined by Pennsylvania-based electronic producer Subtronics. The X Games release describes Subtronics as someone “who grew up immersed in skate culture” and is having “a full-circle moment” by debuting at the X Games.Music is but one major component of the X Games, which draws competitors in several events that include BMX, motocross and skateboarding.Many famous athletes have participated in the X Games, such as Tony Hawk, Shaun White, Nyjah Huston of Davis and Chloe Kim of Southern California. X Games CEO Jeremy Bloom himself is a two-time Olympic skier and former NFL player with the Philadelphia Eagles.Organizers in 2024 originally introduced the X Games coming to Sacramento in time for the Games’ 30-year anniversary in 2025, promising a three-year commitment. However, organizers explained that they wanted more time to work on launching their new league called the X Games League.Mike Testa, CEO for tourism bureau Visit Sacramento, previously told KCRA 3 that they signed a one-year deal with an option for multiple years.”So the goal is to have this for three years and potentially beyond that as well,” Testa said in December 2025.This year’s Summer Games festival takes place from June 26-28.
