BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Two brothers were arrested for attempted murder after allegedly hitting a man with a baseball bat on Niles Street when he asked them to slow down while driving recklessly, leaving the victim with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on April 26, 2026, at around 10:19 a.m., there was a call for service made in the 1600 block of Niles Street. Officials said the reporting person stated there was an assault with a bat.

22-year-old Juan Morales and 19-year-old Isaias Morales, both of Bakersfield, were arrested for attempted murder, vandalism, and other associated charges on Tuesday, April 28th.

Police said a portion of the offense was videotaped and depicted a suspect striking the victim and the victim’s vehicle with a baseball bat.

The victim, identified as a man, was taken to a hospital by private vehicle and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation confirmed the suspects were driving recklessly in a neighborhood. When the victim asked them to slow down due to children being in the area, the suspects became confrontational and assaulted the victim, according to police.
