OAKLAND — It’s not known if the player bought anything else, but someone who purchased a Fantasy 5 lottery ticket at a North Oakland gas station won the overall jackpot of $173,880 Tuesday night, officials said.
The unidentified person was the only one statewide to pick all five winning numbers, which were 14, 19, 33, 37 and 38.
The ticket was sold at the Chevron station at 5500 Telegraph Ave.
A station employee, who did not want his name used, said in a phone interview Wednesday morning he was aware the ticket had been sold there but did not know who bought it. Nonetheless, he said “we’re happy, we’re excited for the person.” He added it was not the first time a big winning ticket had been bought there, with the most recent a few months ago where someone won $40,000 playing another lottery game.
Tuesday’s player has 180 days from the date of the draw to claim their winnings.
Fantasy 5 is played every night of the week. Wednesday’s minimum jackpot was estimated to be at least $74,000.
