LET’S GET THE KCRA 3’S LETICIA ORDAZ LIVE FROM THE BRIDGE DISTRICT NOW WITH MORE. MIKE AND BRIAN. GOOD MORNING. JUST TO GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE, HERE IN THE BRIDGE DISTRICT, CONSTRUCTION STARTED AT SIX THIS MORNING, AND WHILE NEIGHBORS SAY THEY LOVE THE GROWTH AND TRANSFORMATION THAT’S HAPPENING HERE IN WEST SACRAMENTO, THEY’RE GETTING ANNOYED WITH ALL OF THE NOISE. NOW, OFFICIALS SAY THEY ARE READY TO TAKE ACTION. WEST SACRAMENTO IS LOOKING TO GATHER PUBLIC INPUT ON NOISE CONCERNS THROUGHOUT THE CITY TODAY, AND THIS IS IN DIRECT RESPONSE TO THE CITY’S RECENT DEVELOPMENT AROUND SUTTER HEALTH PARK. AND CONCERNS, OF COURSE, INCLUDE CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT AT ODD HOURS, LEAF BLOWERS THAT GO OFF BEFORE 7 A.M., AMPLIFIED MUSIC AROUND ENTERTAINMENT VENUES SUCH AS RESTAURANTS AND BARS, DRAG RACING BY LOCALS AND VISITORS, AND ALSO LOUD HOUSE PARTIES. THE CITY SAYS IT NEEDS TO FIND A BALANCE FOR NEIGHBORS WHO WANT TO THINK THINGS TO BE QUIET AROUND HERE, AND ALSO BUSINESSES WHO ARE TRYING TO GENERATE MORE FOOT TRAFFIC. WEST SACRAMENTO SAYS IT’S BEEN A WHILE SINCE THEY’VE UPDATED THE NOISE ORDINANCE, AND OFFICIALS SAY IT’S VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE CONSISTENT ENFORCEMENT TOOLS IN PLACE WHEN ISSUES DO COME UP. NOT EVERY ISSUE WILL REQUIRE CALLING POLICE. IT MAY BE A CALL TO A LOCAL BUSINESS INFORMING THEM OF THE UPDATED NOISE RULES, AND YOU CAN SHARE YOUR INPUT ON THE CITY WIDE NOISE ORDINANCE THAT’S BEING PROPOSED TONIGHT AT THE REC CENTER.
