Long Beach community members can enjoy cars, music, food and more at the Assistance League of Long Beach’s second annual Car Show and Fair this weekend.
The free event will take place on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the organization’s philanthropic center, 6220 E. Spring St.
The Car Show and Fair will help celebrate the community spirit, while raising vital funds for the Association League of Long Beach’s philanthropic programs that serve Long Beach residents, officials said. The volunteer-driven nonprofit organization is dedicated to improving the lives and strengthening the Long Beach community through its wide range of programs.
Designed to attract car enthusiasts, families, and community members alike, the event offers something for everyone while highlighting the power of local partnerships and volunteerism, organizers said.
The family-friendly event will feature a display of more than 50 classic, custom, and specialty vehicles, along with vendors, food, beer, games and live music, according to a press release.
“This car show is more than just a community event, it’s a celebration of what we can accomplish when people come together for a shared purpose,” Christina Mansour, president of the Assistance League of Long Beach, said in a statement. “We are incredibly thankful to our sponsors, donors, community partners, and volunteers whose generosity and dedication make it all possible. Because of them, we can create a memorable event while continuing to provide vital support for the children and families we serve.”
Organizers said that they give their sincere thanks to the event sponsors and underwriters, whose financial support covers event operations and logistics, allowing proceeds generated through the event to directly benefit the association’s philanthropic work.
The nonprofit’s 11 philanthropic programs address critical needs in the community, including support for underserved youth, families, and individuals striving for greater stability and opportunity, according to its website.
Some of the well-known programs include:
Operation School Bell, which provides new school uniforms, backpacks, school supplies and more to thousands of low-income elementary and middle school students in the Long Beach Unified School District
The Orthodontic Program, which serves low- and moderate-income families by providing access to affordable orthodontic care
ALa Carte, which brings creative arts, entertainment and volunteer support to pediatric patients and their families at Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital
The car show also provides a platform for local businesses and artisans through its curated boutique vendor area, further strengthening the collaborative approach to serving the community’s most vulnerable, according to a press release.
