All older active adults, 55 and older, are invited to a special Mother’s Day Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 7 at the East Anaheim Gymnasium.

This event, presented by Anaheim’s Community Service Department Older Adults Program, is free to attend and celebrates Mother’s Day.

Have a Victoria tea to celebrate mothers

A Mother’s Day Celebration, hosted by the Anaheim, Orange and Villa Park Women’s Connection, is planned for May 11 at the Black Gold Country Club. All women are invited.

Doors open at 10:30 a.m. for shopping with local onsite vendors and socializing. Luncheon and program begin at 11:30 a.m., and the day concludes at 1:30 p.m.

The afternoon program will take a “step back in time” with a Victorian tea presentation given by Luisa de Molina. Susan Beasley will share her gift of music and guest speaker Rhonda Keliipio will discuss “Did I Say Yes to That?”

Guests are encouraged to wear a Victorian outfit and bring their mother or a picture of her. Cost to attend is $35 per person.

Encounter endangered species at the library

Kids ages 4 and older are invited to an endangered species day on May 15 at the Canyon Hills Library.

Oak Canyon Nature Center will partner with Canyon High School’s Endangered Species Club to present this special program that will include live animal interactions and fun crafts. The event is from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Lunch with country flair

Members of the Anaheim Hills Women’s Club are extending an invitation to all women to attend their May luncheon on May 20 at the Anaheim Hills Golf Club.

The theme is “Patriotic Country” and the 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. lunch will feature talented entertainer, singer and musician Cowboy John, who performs various country classics.

Woman’s Club recognizes students’ success

Three exceptional young women were recently recognized as the 2026 Inspirational Young Woman Award recipients by members of the Woman’s Club of Orange.

This award celebrates the outstanding achievements of remarkable young women graduating from high school within the Orange Unified School District. Each year, teachers and counselors from the high schools are invited to select one student who exemplifies such accomplishments. Award recipients received a commemorative pin, a certificate of recognition and $250.

Daisy Romero from EDGE Virtual Academy has excelled academically, according to her counselor, and demonstrates resilience and determination in reaching her goals. She plans to pursue a career that will have a positive impact on others. She enjoys reading, listening to music, making pastries and decorating.

Natalie Martinez from El Modena High School has explored various careers by completing career pathways in patient care, business and criminal justice. Among her achievements is the launching of her own nail care business using the profits to help support herself and her family. She plans to attend Cal State Fullerton.

Yanexy Solares from Villa Park High School has continually challenged herself academically with Honors and AP courses, earning a GPA of 4.63. She also participates in the Orange Police Explorers program and was recently promoted to Explorer Sergeant. Her plans include attending a four-year university and law school with an ultimate goal of becoming a criminal law judge.
