A former teacher from Pontiac is headed to prison for sex crimes against a former student.
At a hearing Tuesday in Oakland County Circuit Court, Jocelynn Sanroman, 27, was sentenced to 51 months to 15 years in prison for three counts of criminal sexual conduct against the teenager who she had been tutoring in Pontiac. At the time, Sanroman worked as a teacher at Oakside Scholars Charter Academy in Waterford Township.
The student was a 16-year-old boy, officials said. The reported sex crimes happened in July 2023.

Sanroman opted out of trial by pleading guilty to the crimes last month. Jail credit of one day was applied to her sentence.
Officials said Sanroman had told a colleague about the sexual encounters, who then reported it to school officials. That led to a police investigation.
Judge Cheryl Matthews issued the sentence.
Sanroman was booked into the Oakland County Jail shortly before 4 p.m. on Tuesday and is awaiting transfer to the Michigan Department of Corrections.
