The Edmonton Oilers and the Anaheim Ducks meet Thursday at Honda Center in Anaheim, California, for Game 6 of their best-of-7, Western Conference first-round playoff series. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (TNT / truTV / HBO Max). Let’s analyze NHL odds around the Oilers vs. Ducks and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.
Best-of-7 series: Ducks lead 3-2
The Oilers entered Game 5 on Tuesday with their backs against the wall, down 3-1 in the series. Edmonton responded favorably, winning 4-1 as a moderate favorite (-160) as the Under (7) cashed for the first time in the series. C Leon Draisaitl scored 2 goals, including a power-play score, while D Evan Bouchard had 3 assists and G Connor Ingram was back with 29 saves on 30 shots.
In Game 5, Anaheim G Lukas Dostal was pulled after allowing 3 goals in 10:13 of the first period on just 9 shots. G Ville Husso stopped 10 of 11 shots in relief. LW Alex Killorn provided the only goal for the Ducks.
If the Oilers are able to secure a road victory, it would set up a winner-take-all Game 7 in Edmonton on Saturday.

Connor Ingram (16-10-3, 2.60 GAA, .898 SV%, 2 SO – regular season) vs. Lukas Dostal (30-20-4, 3.12 GAA, .888 SV% – regular season)
Ingram was back in the crease for Game 5 after Tristan Jarry was used in Game 4, a 4-3 OT loss. Ingram allowed just a single goal on 30 shots, similar to how he closed the regular season, in his return in Game 5. He is 2-2 with a 3.77 GAA and .878 SV% in 4 playoff starts.
Dostal was pulled quickly in Game 5, and the Ducks were unable to recover. That snapped a 3-game win streak, as he slipped to 3-2 with a 4.32 GAA and .864 SV% in 5 starts in this series.
Oilers at Ducks picks and predictionsPrediction
Oilers 4, Ducks 2
BACK EDMONTON (-130) in Game 6 on the road.
The Oilers have the experience of the past 2 seasons to tap into. This team has been down, and it has been nearly out, but has continued to bounce back — against all odds sometimes — to make it to the Stanley Cup Final in 2 straight seasons. That includes 2024 when the Oilers were down 0-3 in the Final before forcing a Game 7.
The fourth win in a series is the hardest, and Anaheim is rather inexperienced outside of Killorn and D John Carlson as closing out a series goes.
EDMONTON -1.5 (+170) is worth playing lightly, but it might come down to an empty-net goal to get you across the finish line.
It’s an elimination game, so expect tight checking and a little bit different of a look than the first 4 games of the series. Expect a game similar to Game 5, which resembled more of a playoff battle and less an All-Star Game.
UNDER 7 (-115) cashed in Game 5, as the Oilers allowed just the single goal. You can expect defense, checking and hard hitting to pick up, and hopefully Dostal received a wake-up call with his benching in Game 5. It worked for Ingram, as he snapped back into form after a one-game absence.
Scores typically plummet when the season is on the line. Will we get a scoreless OT game similar to the Penguins and Flyers in Game 6 on Wednesday? That’s doubtful. But, don’t expect a shootout, either.
