Phil Serna won’t run for new Sac County Board of Supervisors term, endorses Eric Guerra

Sacramento County Board of Supervisors member Phil Serna will not be running for a new term in 2026, and announced his endorsement for Sacramento City Councilmember Eric Guerra on Wednesday. Serna, Supervisor for District 1, has served on the board since 2010.”Eric Guerra is the right person at the right moment to best represent Sacramento County’s First District” Serna said in a release.Serna said he is fond Guerra’s experience serving on both city council and the California Air Resources Board. “Eric embodies a new generation of leadership that will listen, organize, and deliver on the subjects that matter most to local residents like healthcare, our fragile social services safety net, childcare and how best to minimize and prepare for the impacts of climate change,” Serna said.Guerra has been a councilmember in Sacramento since 2015. He was appointed by Gov. Gavin Newsom to the California Air and Resources Board in 2023.
