(KRON) — A San Jose man suspected of shooting and killing two men at an illegal gambling den last month has been arrested, authorities announced Thursday.

The San Jose Police Department said Gustavo Rodriguez, 46, shot the two men on the night of March 12 inside a commercial building in the 700 block of East Santa Clara Street. Officers responded around 10:11 p.m. and located the victims on the ground suffering from at least one gunshot wound each.

The two victims were pronounced deceased at the scene. Rodriguez, police said, fled the area before officers arrived.

Homicide detectives investigating the double fatal shooting discovered that the building was operating as an illicit gambling establishment, according to SJPD. Circumstances surrounding the homicides were not released by authorities.

Rodriguez was located in San Jose on Monday and arrested. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for suspicion of murder.

The deaths mark the city’s fifth and sixth homicides of 2026.
