Voters will get to hear directly from their San Diego City Council District 2 candidates during a forum on May 14.
The free event that will focus on coastal issues for San Diego’s beach and bay communities is being hosted by the Pacific Beach Town Council, Mission Beach Town Council and the Ocean Beach Community Foundation.
The seven candidates in the June 2 primary election have been invited to participate. They are Richard Bailey, Josh Coyne, Nicole Crosby, Mandy Havlik, Jacob Mitchell, Mike Rickey and Paul Suppa. In addition to beach communities’ issues, they are expected to talk about the issues impacting all San Diego communities as well as their visions for the city’s future.
Among topics likely covered will be housing and zoning, affordability, environment, homelessness, city budgeting, infrastructure and public safety, organizers said.
The two-hour forum will start at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 14 at Paradise Point Resort & Spa, 1404 Vacation Road.
District 2 includes the communities of Mission Beach, Mission Bay Park, Clairemont, Midway, Old Town, Ocean Beach and Point Loma. The current District 2 City Councilmember, Jennifer Campbell, is termed out.
Residents are encouraged to submit questions when they RSVP to attend at tinyurl.com/D2-forumMay14.
