First playoff series win for this franchise since 2017.

How do you feel about that?

Unreal.

we got a, we had a big dog.

we had a really, really good team, you know, against us and, all credit to them.

You know, the last game, they, they came on humming.

You know, they, they show us that, they’re a really, really good team, and we wanted to make sure that, you know, in front of our fans that we’re gonna play a really good game and, you know, I’m just so proud of the boys because it was a really, really mature game and, you know, throughout the, throughout the season, you know, sometimes those third periods, you know, we, we let it slip.

But today I feel like all kind of collided together and, we really show our maturity and, just, you know, I’m just so proud of this team because, it was a hell of a, hell of a game by them, by us.

For, for yourself to come back after the last game, not your best I, I know, but how do you feel just the way that you played today?

I mean, it happens, you know, it’s, that’s why it’s a player series.

You have a up to seven, up to seven games.

You know, obviously you wanna always close it up as soon as possible, but, you know, it happens.

And, you know, today I just felt like that I kind of got that day and a half and that, you know, I have the time to, to recover like, physically and mentally and, you know, I wanted to make sure that I’ll be ready for, from the puck drop because, you know, directly reminded me last time that let a couple of goals in on my first shot, so I really made sure today that it wouldn’t happen.

So, so, it worked out well.

Must have been nice playing with the lead for the first time in the series as well.

it just seemed like a comprehensive effort.

You guys had the physical game going, obviously got some goals early.

you know, seemed like there were no passengers tonight, right?

Yeah, that’s, that was definitely our message after last game.

You know, they, as I said, that Edmonton really jumped on us last game and, you know, they scored the first three goals quite quick.

So, that was something that, we wanted to do as well today and, you know, in front of our fans they were, they were like, they were just so unbelievable and, they just supported us the whole game and, you know, the guys really showed a great response and, and, you know, it’s, it was important for us to respond.

So many people have been talking about this team as an up-and-coming team, a young team, great future, but not– Some people thought it was gonna be next year, not this year, that you’re, that you would be advancing in the playoffs.

Talk about that.

I mean, it was our goal to make the playoffs, you know, and, then it always really, really depends, what’s gonna happen, you know?

you never know once you get to the playoffs and, you know, obviously, you guys can see that we have a lot of speed and, the guys play with, with just so much speed, man.

Like it’s, it was a really fast series, like up and down and, you know, the guys throughout the year, you know, we showed a lot of resilience coming back in those, in those third periods and, you know, got a lot of overtime win, shootout wins and that’s where we show our maturity that, we got our spots in the playoffs and, you know, and then it’s kind of a fair game for everyone.

Yeah.

And, you know, just, we are just glad that we could, we could advance, since 2017 for the first time.

You, you’ve been here for a number of years and you know the lean years it’s been f-for this organization.

To win a playoff series, it’s been eight, nine years.

Yeah, I mean– I mean, it’s, it’s, it’s huge.

You know, that’s something, you know, since I got here, you know, in San Diego, you know, I, I was with a lot of, a lot of guys.

you know, then, then I kind of got up and, I saw a lot of guys come and go and, you know, a lot of y- a lot of young guys came and, we drafted and, you know, got a lot of, of good guys and we have a great, great, veteran group as well.

And, you know, they really, you know, we really showed the maturity today and, you know, it’s, it’s kind of a blessing that after, such a long time that, we could, we could advance and even get to the playoffs and now advance the first round.

Isn’t it amazing that you can win one series but then again you have to rec-recognize there’s another one coming up?

yeah, obviously.

you know, we’re gonna have a couple of, couple of days now, so I think it’s gonna be important, important ritual, like, like physically and mentally and, we’re gonna, we’re gonna make sure that, we’re gonna be ready for the next one because, you know, it might be a completely different opponent than, than Edmonton is.

And, that’s what’s so magical about the playoffs because, you get to– When you keep advancing, you get to play different teams with the different styles and, it’s always, you know, it always feels, Lucas, how- Lucas, you might have played, I mean, you guys may have played only two bad periods in the entire series.

Did you feel like you guys were the better team throughout and it was just gonna be proven out tonight?

I mean, all credit to Edmonton.

You know, like, you know, they have been, you know, they’ve been two times in the Stanley Cup, Stanley Cup Final and, you know, they have a hell of a team.

You know, you can– you could really see the last game that, they really jump on us and they really show us that, what they are all about.

And, you know, we really wanted to make sure today that, we gotta do the same thing to them, especially in front of our own crowd.

And, you know, it’s– I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna judge who was the, who was the better team.

you know, obviously we, we took a series, we, we won the series, but, you know, all, all credit to them because they have, you know, one of the best, two best players in the world and, you know, they’re, they’re a really good team and all credit to them.
