A 17-year-old motorcycle rider was killed and an 11-year-old passenger was hospitalized in critical condition following a two-vehicle crash in Fresno on Friday night.
The crash occurred around 10:40 p.m. at the intersection of Bullard and Palm avenues, according to Fresno Police Lt. Justin Hoagland.
Police said a white truck was traveling west on Bullard Avenue and entered the intersection at Palm Avenue when the crash happened.
Officers arrived to what Hoagland described as a “chaotic” scene, with a large group of pedestrians gathered nearby.
Officers rendered aid before both juveniles were taken to a local hospital.
The 17-year-old later died, while the 11-year-old was in serious condition, Hoagland said.
The driver of the truck stayed at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.
Police do not suspect drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
Authorities are canvassing the area for surveillance video to determine what led up to the collision.
Hoagland noted that a motorcycle was attached to the white truck at the time of the crash.
The department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit was called to investigate.
The intersection remained closed for several hours following the incident.
