BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The warmest day of the latest warmup is on tap for: Saturday.

The upper-level ridge of high pressure centered over the Rocky Mountains, with an expansive influence across our region, will help keep those temperatures warm for one more day.

Afternoon highs on Saturday could get up to right around 90 for the South Valley, high 80s in the desert, mid 80s in the KRV and mid 70s across Tehachapi.

Hikers and campers be aware, if you are planning on being out and about along the High Sierra, afternoon showers and thunderstorms will be increasingly likely as a result of building instability in response to a strengthening and approaching upper-level low west of San Francisco.

This system will be part of our forecast focus going forward with bigger changes heading Kern County’s way. Stay tuned!
