April 20 — Caller advised there was a male juvenile currently in the principal’s office at Ilwaco High School, as he was found with a bag of substances. They found a lunch bag with two nicotine vapes, one weed pen, a very small amount of weed in a napkin, as well as a box of Benadryl.

An officer arrived and spoke with the student, who advised they read a message on a school Chromebook about holding onto vape pens between two students, one being the juvenile and the other being a female student, who was dealt with prior to the officer’s arrival.

The officer sat and waited for the juvenile’s mother to arrive, as he could not talk to him without a parent being around. The mother was very agitated with the whole situation, and advised that the weed pen was hers, but she did not give it to him.

The juvenile advised he hasn’t brought things to school before, and the vapes were given to him to hold for safekeeping today by another student. The Benadryl was provided to him by his mother, but school policy prohibits him from having that on him at school, as well as any of the other substances.

The officer informed him of the minors in possession laws, and what could happen to him if these situations keep happening, and he does not stop. He also informed his mom of the referral program that prosecutors would rather use than legal charges.

The school viewed the amount of contraband on him as distribution in the school, and suspended him for five school days. They also will be sending a referral to a drug program to get an assessment and possible help.

All involved felt like this would be enough for this first offense at the school. The officer confiscated the contraband, and will photograph it and get rid of it properly.

April 23 — Caller said he wanted his wife to leave, and she would not leave. He said nothing was physical. It was not even a verbal argument, she was just refusing to leave.

An officer spoke with him, and he explained to me that his wife had gone to Ocean Beach Hospital against his wishes, as she did not have insurance to pay for a hospital bill. He said it was the last straw. She never listens to him, and he wants her kicked out of the house.

The officer explained to him that since she lives there, he can’t kick her out nor could he make her listen to him. The officer told him he could speak with her to maybe find a different solution, but that was it.

The officer spoke with the wife, and she said everything was fine. I asked if maybe she had somewhere else she could stay for the night to let cooler heads prevail, and she said she could text a friend. The officer told her he could not force her to go, but that may be a good option.

The officer spoke with the caller again, and told him that his wife would ask a friend. He thanked the officer and said all he really wanted was to “show her that I’m serious this time.”

April 25 — Caller stated that a male subject was trying to fight with people at the fishing derby. There was nothing physical. She told the officer on the phone that the subject was causing issues with other people just prior to her boyfriend exchanging words with the subject about crossing fishing lines, and then wanting to fight her boyfriend. The subject left in his small silver Ford prior to the officer’s arrival.

The officer contacted the subject, who was in his truck parked next to Black Lake. He talked to the officer about mutual combat. He was apologetic, and was just waiting for his wife. After a brief conversation, the subject and his wife left in separate vehicles to the other side of the lake.

There was a report of a Blue Heeler dog running around the park with no owner. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the dog. The officer spoke with the caller on the phone, as well, and let her know. She told the officer she believes the dog has been seen around town for a few days now.

Animal complaint: There was a report of a dog barking in the area for the last hour. While an officer was driving around the area, he found the Blue Heeler. He was not barking, nor did the officer hear any barking in the area. He tried to catch the dog but the dog’s skills proved too much for the officer, who gave up the chase when the dog ran in between buildings a few blocks south of the call.

April 26 — Disturbance: Two officers responded to a report of a possible domestic violence issue in progress. When the officers arrived, they were approached by a male subject in the lobby. He said he was staying in Room 232. This was the room the caller phoned about. The male subject said he was a victim, but would not explain any further. He then said nothing physical happened between him and his girlfriend.

An officer then went and spoke with the female subject in the hotel room. She also denied anything physical had occurred between the two, and said they were just having a loud argument because they were both accusing each other of cheating.

There were some destroyed mugs and glasses on the floor of the hotel room. The officer told her that the hotel would likely be charging them for the damages. Neither party claimed anything physical happened, nor did either of them appear to have any injuries or complaints of pain.

The officer explained to both of them that it would be best if one person stayed somewhere else for the night.

The male subject volunteered to leave, and just requested his wallet from the hotel room. The officer retrieved his wallet, then gave him courtesy transport to Best Western. Best Western was completely booked up, so the officer provided him with a ride to Chautauqua Lodge and remained on the scene until he purchased a room.

An officer saw a male subject reaching through the slots on the bins, getting bottles and cans out. The officer contacted the subject, and told him he would be arrested for theft. The subject said he would put back what he got. He was told to stay out of the bins.

A male subject called, stating that the fat cop who has the American tattoo on his arm is not leaving him alone, and he is poisoning him with food and capsule pills. The caller also wanted to know why he is still on the property. An officer had Dispatch close out the call.
