A man caught on camera allegedly brandishing a knife outside a Sacramento County home is back behind bars for a second time.The incident was captured Thursday night on a Ring camera at a home on La Sierra Drive in the Arden-Arcade area. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office identified the man in the video as Brian Mattson. Authorities say the footage appeared to show Mattson making threatening motions with a knife while standing on the home’s front porch.Deputies located Mattson two days later and arrested him on a misdemeanor criminal trespassing charge. According to the sheriff’s office, Mattson was no longer displaying the same behavior seen in the video when deputies found him. Authorities also determined he was on probation at the time.Mattson was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail but released about 90 minutes later after a probation hold was denied.He was arrested again the following night after neighbors reported him trespassing on properties near Fair Oaks Boulevard and San Lucas Way. This time, authorities say he is being held in jail for violating probation.“California’s justice system is very strange, because again this is still considered a nonviolent offense. Granted he had weapons, granted he was acting the way he was acting, but by all intents and purposes, this is a non-violent crime,” said Amar Gandhi with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. “So we’re hoping he stays at least until court, hopefully get him connected to some resources that keeps him in jail or some sort of facility somewhere.” The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who may have had an incident involving Mattson to come forward.
