EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — A fire located near Bakersfield in Kern County quickly grew to at least 2,500 acres on Sunday afternoon and prompted evacuation orders, which were then downgraded to warnings, according to Cal Fire.
The Tower Fire, which started just before 4 p.m. Sunday, grew from 50 acres to over 2,000 in less than two hours, according to Cal Fire.
The fire prompted an evacuation order in the KRN-443 zone, near Tarina and Edison, along State Highway 58 and Bena Road.
As of Sunday evening, the fire remained at 0% containment, according to Cal Fire.
