The home side enters the contest following a 2-0 defeat against Portland Thorns FC on April 29. Despite conceding goals to Marie Müller and Sophia Wilson, San Diego maintained majority possession and created several scoring opportunities throughout the match according to club reports.
Rookie forward Lia Godfrey leads the Wave’s attack with four goals this season. Godfrey recently set a club record for rookie scoring and became the first American since 2015 to record five goal contributions in her opening six NWSL league appearances.
Bay FC travels to San Diego after a 3-0 loss to Gotham FC on April 25. During that match, goalkeeper Jordan Silkowitz tied an NWSL single-match record by recording 12 saves, bringing her two-match total to 20 stops, the highest in league history over such a span.
The Kids Night event includes a full stadium takeover with programming starting at 2:30 p.m. when gates open. Activities feature a live set by nine-year-old DJ Disco Danger and a dedicated Kids Zone offering face painting and interactive magic performances on the North Turf Pad.
Youth participation will be integrated into the match presentation through a pre-match parade and a national anthem performance by the Suzuki School ensemble. The starting XI announcement will feature artwork created by local YMCA youth participants, while halftime will host a fashion show by the Solida Bike Club San Diego.
